Description
The title for this month is Deacon King Kong by James McBride.
In September 1969, a cranky old church deacon known as Sportscoat pulls a .38 from his pocket and shoots a Brooklyn housing project's drug dealer at point-blank range. McBride brings to life all of the characters who witnessed it, including Sportscoat himself.
Critics' Circle now in-person on the third Tuesday of the month (except December) at 6:30 pm for a discussion of new and classic titles. New readers are always welcome. This book discussion is led by Margaret Eustace.
Many of the book discussion titles can be downloaded via the Library's Hoopla or Overdrive services. Check for video instructions on using Hoopla. Print copies are available at the library for most book groups. Call 203-438-2282 about reserving books. Copies can also be purchased at Books on the Common at a 15% discount.
