Program Description

Description

The title for this month is Mycroft Holmes by Kareem Abdul-Jabbar.

This novel, written by retired NBA basketball superstar Kareem Abdul-Jabbar tells a story about Mycroft Holmes, a Cambridge University graduate who has made his name in the British government as Secretary of State. Holmes has strong ties to Trinidad, which is the birthplace of his best friend Cyrus Douglas, and where his fiancée Georgiana Sutton was raised. Mycroft’s comfortable existence is overturned when Douglas receives troubling reports from home. Upon hearing the news, Sutton abruptly departs for Trinidad and Mycroft convinces Douglas, they should follow her, drawing the two men into a web of dark secrets that grows more treacherous with each step they take.

Join us for Murder by the Book, the library's mystery book discussion group, which meets in-person on the first Thursday of the month from January through November with an option to participate via Zoom at 10:30 am. Participants will discuss a selected book from different mystery authors. For fans of mysteries of all kinds—from cozies to spy thrillers! This book discussion is led by Adult Services Librarian Kelly-Ann Gardella.

*You may also choose to attend the program online. Everyone who registers below will receive the Zoom link.

Many of the book discussion titles can be downloaded via the library's Hoopla or Overdrive services. Check for video instructions on using Hoopla. Print copies are available at the library for most book groups. Call 203-438-2282 about reserving books. Copies can also be purchased at Books on the Common at a 15% discount.
