Description

The title for this month is Sparks Like Stars by Nadia Hashimi.

AFGHANISTAN Kabul, 1978: Sitara lives a privileged life as the daughter of progressive president Sardar Daoud’s right-hand man. But her world is shattered when communists assassinate the president and her entire family. Smuggled out of the palace by a guard, Sitara is adopted and raised in America, where she becomes a renowned surgeon. Sitara’s world is rocked again when an elderly patient appears in her examination room—the soldier who saved Sitara 30 years before but who may also have murdered her entire family.
