Program Description

Description

The title for this month is Far From the Madding Crowd by Thomas Hardy.

Far from the Madding Crowd by Thomas Hardy (433 pg., 1874). Bathsheba Everdene takes up her position as a farmer on the largest estate in the area. Her spirited presence draws three very different suitors: the gentleman-farmer Boldwood, the soldier-seducer Sergeant Troy, and the devoted shepherd Gabriel Oak. Each unsettles her decisions and complicates her life, and the tragedy that ensues threatens the stability of the community. The A.M. Book Discussion Group is now meeting via Zoom on the fourth Wednesday of the month (except December) at 10:00 am. New readers are always welcome.

Everyone who registers below will receive the Zoom link.

Many of the book discussion titles can be downloaded via the Library's Hoopla or Overdrive services. Check for video instructions on using Hoopla. Print copies are available at the library for most book groups. Call 203-438-2282 about reserving books. Copies can also be purchased at Books on the Common at a 15% discount.

If you are participating by Zoom and have not received your Zoom link by the day before the program please email lthandley@ridgefieldlibrary.org
