Description
The title for this month is Père Goriot by Honoré de Balzac.
Père Goriot is the tragic story of a father whose obsessive love for his two daughters leads to financial and personal ruin. The impoverished young aristocrat, Rastignac, comes from the provinces to Paris to make his fortune and becomes involved with the daughters. The story is set against the background of a whole society driven by social ambition and a lust for wealth.
