Join us online as we celebrate five newly elected Connecticut Poets Laureate for an evening of poetry and community, featuring:

Ira Joe Fisher is the author of three poetry collections and a volume of essays. A university-level educator, Ira Joe is also a stage, movie, and TV actor who served as a beloved NY TV-weather personality.

Mark McGuire-Schwartz has published poetry in many journals, as well as a chapbook of poems, Loss and Laughs, Love and Fauna. Mark has taught at Housatonic Community College.

Cheryl Panosian is a poet and licensed psychotherapist. She leads poetry and creative writing workshops throughout Connecticut and previously co-hosted the longest-running, weekly poetry series in CT.

Virginia Shreve served as the CT State Beat Poet Laureate from 2020-22, hosting two years of the National/International Beat Poet Festival as well as numerous other poetry festivals and events.

 

Steve Straight’s books include Affirmation (winner of the 2023 William Meredith Award), The Almanac, and The Water Carrier; former director of the Manchester Community College poetry program.
