Description

Join us for an evening of fathers sharing their poetry! You’ll hear noted poets representing each of the state’s four corners, plus one from the central Hartford area.

Our Special Father’s Day poets are Dennis Barone, Paul Bluestein, Chris Gaffney, Steven Ostrowski, and John Surowiecki.

DENNIS BARONE is the author of numerous collections of poetry, prose poems, mixed-genre, fiction, and non-fiction works. He serves as the Poetry Editor for the Wallace Stevens Journal and as President of the Hartford Friends and Enemies of Wallace Stevens.

PAUL BLUESTEIN is a retired physician and blues guitarist who returned to his love of writing at age 70. Since then, he has published two full-length poetry collections and is at work on a third. His work has appeared in online and print publications.

CHRIS GAFFNEY, a stay-at-home dad and award-winning humor columnist, served as a keynote speaker at the National At-Home Dad Network’s annual convention in 2022. His work-in-progress is titled Baby Bump: Poems for and About Expectant Parents.

STEVEN OSTROWSKI - a poet, fiction writer, painter, and teacher – won the 2021 Wolfson Chapbook Prize. He is the author of six chapbooks, four books of poems, and Penultimate Human Constellation, a conversation in poems written with his son Ben.

JOHN SUROWIECKI has published 14 books of poetry and won numerous awards, including the Pablo Neruda Prize and a silver medal in the Sunken Garden National Competition. He was recently named co-editor of the Connecticut River Review.
