The title for this month is A Council of Dolls by Mona Susan Power – INDIGENOUS U.S.
The long-awaited, profoundly moving new novel, spanning three generations of Yanktonai Dakota women from the 19th century to the present day, told in part through the stories of the dolls they carried. Devastating yet ultimately hopeful, A Council of Dolls shines a light on the echoing damage wrought by Indian boarding schools, and the historical massacres of Indigenous people.
Join us for World Lit Now!, a book-discussion group focused on recently published, award-winning literature from around the globe. We meet in person on the 2nd Wednesday of the month at 10:30 am from January through November. New readers are always welcome! Barb Jennes, Ridgefield’s Poet Laureate emerita, leads the group’s always-lively discussions. Please register below.
