Join us for the launch of a new series of monthly poetry readings, featuring award-winning poets from throughout Connecticut. The readings will take place on zoom at 7:00 p.m. on the first Wednesday of each month. Register below to receive the zoom link for the first reading and talkback with West Hartford poets Christine Beck, Ginny Lowe Connors, and Ben S. Grossberg.

Christine Beck is a poet and a writer of creative nonfiction. She holds an MFA in creative writing and has taught creative writing at local universities. Christine was formerly poet laureate of the town of West Hartford. Her poetry collections include Blinding Light (Grayson Books), I’m Dating Myself (Dancing Girl Press), and Stirred Not Shaken (Four Way Books). Christine is also the author of Beneath the Steps, a book of poetry and poetry prompts for people in 12-step programs. Ginny Lowe Connors is the author of four full-length poetry collections, the most recent of which is Without Goodbyes: From Puritan Deerfield to Mohawk Kahnawake (Turning Point). Her chapbook, Under the Porch, won the Sunken Garden Poetry Prize and she has earned numerous awards for individual poems. She is a former Poet Laureate of West Hartford. As publisher of her own press, Grayson Books, Connors has also edited a number of poetry anthologies, including Forgotten Women: A Tribute in Poetry. She is co-editor of Connecticut River Review.

Benjamin S. Grossberg’s latest book My Husband Would (University of Tampa) won the 2021 Connecticut Book Award. His earlier books include Space Traveler (University of Tampa) and Sweet Core Orchard (University of Tampa), winner of the 2009 Lambda Literary Award for poetry. His work has appeared widely, including in The Pushcart Prize and Best American Poetry anthologies. This fall, Ben was a Festival Poet at the Dodge Poetry Festival. He is Director of Creative Writing at the University of Hartford.
