Description
The title for this month is Barbizon: The Hotel That Set Women Free by Paula Bren, 2021
Built in 1927 at the height of the Roaring Twenties, the Barbizon Hotel was intended as a safe haven for the "Modern Woman" seeking a career in the arts. It became the place to stay for any ambitious young woman arriving with a dream and a suitcase, hoping for fame and fortune. The Barbizon offered its residents a room of their own and a life without family obligations or expectations. No place had existed like it before or has since.
The Nonfictioneers book discussion group meets in-person with an option to participate via Zoom on the first Tuesday of the month at 6:00 pm (except December) to discuss contemporary non-fiction titles. New readers are always welcome. Please register below.
*You may also choose to attend the program online. Everyone who registers below will receive the Zoom link.
