Description
The title for this month is Mary Barton by Elizabeth Gaskell.
Set in the early 1840s in the English city of Manchester, young and beautiful Mary Barton, daughter of a factory worker, is caught up in the class struggle of her time. She attracts the attention of a wealthy mill-owner’s son, Henry Carson, although she soon discovers her love for the poor, hard-working Jem Wilson.
The A.M. Book Discussion Group meets in person with an option to participate via Zoom on the fourth Wednesday of the month at 10:00 am. *Please note the May alternate meeting date due to the Memorial Day holiday. This book group does not meet in December. New readers are always welcome. Tom Madden is the facilitator.
