Description

The title for this month is The Personal Librarian by Marie Benedict.

This novel tells the historical story of the first librarian and director of the Morgan Library who built its collection of art, books, and manuscripts together with J. Pierpont Morgan under the name of Belle da Costa Greene--who "passed as white" with her light-skin although she was of African American descent. The book details her entrance into and mingling with high society New York and Europe.

The Founders Hall Book Group meets on the second Thursday of the month (except December) at 3:00 pm. This Book Group is open to Founders Hall members only. For more information about Founders Hall, click here. This book discussion is led by Andy Forsyth, the Ridgefield Library’s Assistant Director.
