In 1860 Ulysses S. Grant was working as a clerk at a store in Galena, Illinois. A graduate of West Point and an officer in the Mexican-American war, he'd quit the army in 1854.
The group meets on the first Tuesday of the month at 7 PM for a lively discussion about contemporary and classic nonfiction titles. New readers are always welcome.
