Join us as we explore poems that capture pivotal moments in our nation’s history, from 1945 to today.

This third and final session of our three-part series will focus on poems written in response to key historic events and movements since the end of World War II.

Topics will include:

* Korea and Vietnam

* Civil Rights Movement

* The assassinations of JFK & MLK

* Kent State

* HIV/AIDS

* Hurricane Katrina

* 9/11

* Barack Obama

* Black Lives Matter

* Sandy Hook

* COVID, and more.

Once registered, you’ll receive a packet of accessible poems, specially selected by presenter Barb Jennes (Ridgefield Poet Laureate, 2020-23) to illustrate why Plato once noted, “Poetry is nearer to vital truth than history.”
