Meet five new CT poets laureate!

Join us online for a reading by five poets, all recently appointed to serve as the poet laureate of their town. Our May reading features Nzima Hutchings, Judith Liebmann, Susan Powers, Nadia Sims, and Steve Veilleux.

Hosted and curated by Ridgefield Poet Laureate Emerita Barb Jennes, Poems from Connecticut’s Four Corners readings are held on the first Wednesday of the month at 7:00.

Nzima Hutchings-poet, artist advocate, and educator-is the poet laureate of Enfield.  She is the founder of Every Kinda Lady Co., an organization that helps women use writing to help heal from trauma.

Judith Liebmann, poet laureate of Branford, directed the writing program at Yale’s Center for Independent Study. She is recipient of a Fulbright Fellowship and a grant from the CT Commission on the Arts.

Susan Powers is a retired teacher with a doctorate in psychology. In the fall 2023, she was chosen as Scotland’s first Poet Laureate. Her published poetry includes the chapbook Break the Spell.

Nadia Sims-the new poet laureate of Manchester-is a Princeton graduate. She is the author of two poetry collections, A Soft Place to Land and We Know the Dark.

Steve Veilleux is the Town of Thompson’s inaugural poet laureate. Steve hosts the Packing House Poetry series in Willington. His latest poetry collection is Event Horizon.
