Program Description

Description

The Library is pleased to continue its Poetry by Heart series led by musician, educator, theater producer, and poetry lover Andrew Levine, for eight sessions starting on February 2, in the Randolph Board Room on the Upper Level.

This program is for anyone who has the desire to know a poem by heart and share it with others in an intimate and non-intimidating setting.
“We will form a community of those that love poems spoken aloud and love the inquiry into the very individual and particular poems that have the power to move us, comfort us and challenge us,” said Levine.

Attendees should come to each session with a poem they already know or with one that that they would like to learn by heart.

Levine is currently the managing director of the Sheen Center for Thought and Culture in New York City. Earlier in his career he was a practicing musician and music director for the theater, and an educator at the Savannah College of Art and Design and the Hartt School.
