Program Description

Description

Join us at the Ridgefield Library on the afternoon of Saturday, March 16th as we celebrate our current art exhibit, "Ukiyo-e, The Floating World, Japanese Woodblock Prints," with a special Talk and Reception.

From 2:00-2:45 pm, collector Larry George will give a talk discussing the history and process of making Japanese Woodblock Prints and their influence on European and American artists. Larry will also show block-by-block how color is applied in a Japanese Woodblock print by breaking down specific isolated color areas that become built up in the process of creating the print.  Please register.

Immediately after the talk, a reception will be held in the Art Gallery from 3:00 - 4:30 pm, where both collectors Joel Third and Larry George will be available to discuss the prints.  Refreshments will be served.

The exhibition will be on view during regular Library hours in the Art Gallery through March 27th.
