Program Description

Description

“It’s boring”…”It’s elitist”…”It’s just for English majors”…”I DON’T GET IT!” If you share any of these feelings about poetry, then you’re in for a wonderful awakening: poetry is for everyone!

Join Ridgefield Poet Laureate Barb Jennes for a joyful romp through poetry as it’s meant to be: evocative, entertaining, and ALIVE. Over the course of five evenings, we’ll revisit basic poetic concepts – imagery, metaphor, meter, and more – as they appear in accessible poems by some of today’s finest contemporary poets. You’ll even be challenged to try your hand at some of the tools and forms yourself. Attend any or all of the scheduled sessions. No previous experience reading or writing poetry required.
