Description
This botanical-themed colored pencil "short course" will serve as an introduction to the drawing of non-flowering spore producing plants. Each subset has its own variety of unique shapes, colors, characteristics, growth patterns and textures. Choosing the more basic ones, we will explore different artistic styles of melding scientific accuracy with aesthetic beauty, whether the work of art portrays the intricacies of a single specimen, a combined grouping, or depicts a wider forest landscape. (For anyone with a robust imagination and sense of humor, we may even draw some mushroom people. Mycological mythology, anyone?)
(Although this course may be for all drawing levels, some experience with colored pencils is an advantage)
This course will meet four times: 4/5, 4/12, 4/26 and 5/2. Please register only for the first class and you will be considered registered for all four.
Materials list: White drawing paper (Canson XL mixed media or similar), graphite pencil for light sketching, kneaded eraser, and a set of colored pencils. For more experienced students, lightly toned papers are encouraged.
