Why Are There Three Primary Colors?

This presentation by Luiza Budea will explore how the human eye works to perceive color and explain familiar phenomena when mixing color and light. Budea, a practicing artist with over 15 years with experience in painting, photography, illustration, and graphics, will discuss how our sense of sight is biologically constructed in order to answer a fundamental question about color theory: Why are there three primary colors?

This presentation assumes basic knowledge of color theory such as the primary colors, secondary colors and the color wheel and is ideal for practicing and aspiring artists. 

Luiza Budea graduated with a full scholarship from The Cooper Union for the Advancement of Science and Art. She is currently a resident Artist at RPAC Art Center and Academy on Main Street in Ridgefield, CT and founder of Ridgefield Art on Main.
