Description

Steve Samtur has been the editor and publisher of Back In THE BRONX magazine for over 20 years. This magazine provides a retrospective of The Bronx in the decades of the 1940s-1960s. Since the start of the magazine, Samtur has had close to 30,000 subscribers and 30,000 followers on FaceBook, as well as a Bronx database of over 125,000 former Bronxites. He has also written three books, produced several DVDs, and developed a Bronx Board game and a Back In THE BRONX chess set. For the past 6 years, Samtur has been giving a PowerPoint presentation, The Bronx: The Way It Was, locally and throughout the country.

Samtur recently gave a presentation on Zoom which was attended by former Bronx Borough President & NYS Attorney General Robert Abrams. Afterwards, he said, "Congratulations on putting together a spectacular collection of photographs of the Bronx that brings back irreplaceable memories. I was transformed to an earlier period of my life reliving indelible wonderful memories of times spent in different parts of the Bronx. Your narration is deserving of an award helping to trigger vignettes of my growing up and living in the Bronx. You recaptured and rekindled moments that were special in my life. Thank you for reuniting me with a unique era in the history of our borough and city. I and hundreds of thousands of former Bronxites are in your debit. With appreciation and gratitude."
