Description
Fritz Horstman, Artist, Curator and Education Director for the Josef and Anni Albers Foundation will divide his ARTalk into three parts: a discussion of the Alberses’ art and lives; his new book based on Josef Albers’s color teaching titled Interacting with Color: A Practical Guide to Josef Albers’s Color Experiments; and how some of the Albers’s ideas have informed his own artwork.
Josef and Anni Albers were two of the most dynamic and important artists of the 20th century. Both were teachers at the German Bauhaus and at the arts-centric and progressive Black Mountain College in North Carolina. Josef was eventually made chair of the Yale School of Art in 1950, thus bringing him and Anni to Connecticut.
Of special note: Horstman has a solo show entitled Valleys & Blue Light, which is on view at the New Britain Museum of American Art from September 6 through March 30, 2025. For more information, see HERE.
