Description
This meet and greet reception for Jeff Eyrich's exhibition, "Octopus Portraits: Sessions Under Patmos," will take place from 2:45 to 4 pm on Saturday, February 10. There will be an interview with the artist prior to his reception at 2 pm in the Library's Main Program Room.
Every year, photographer Jeff Eyrich travels to Greece, to the island of Patmos, to interact with and photograph Octopuses in their natural environment. Of his process Eyrich states, "I spend most of my days on Patmos out in my small boat, free-diving, and looking for Octopuses. Getting close and interacting with these creatures is unforgettable and emotionally rewarding. I've learned how incredibly intelligent, beautiful, perceptive and curious Octopuses are. I've been going to Patmos from mid-September to mid-October for the past 40 years. Patmos is a small, peaceful, traditional Greek Island where life there is simple."
All of the photos in this exhibition are from the artist's recent trip to Patmos this past September/October 2023
