Program Description

Description

America250 Community Conversations are facilitated discussions led by Ridgefield Library and Keeler Tavern Museum & History Center staff that focus on increasing familiarity and interaction with the Declaration of Independence. These discussions encourage participants to share, listen and learn together, with no prior knowledge about the Declaration or its historical context needed.

Join us for any or all of the America250 Community Conversations:

  • September 11th at the Ridgefield Library:  Get to Know the Declaration of Independence: A Founding Document Close Reading
  • December 9th at the Ridgefield Library:  They Said What? Responses to the Declaration of Independence
  • March 26th, 2026 at Keeler Tavern Museum & History Center:  The Declaration at 250: Understanding “Life, Liberty, and The Pursuit of Happiness” in 2026

Copies of the Declaration of Independence will be available to check out from the Library one month prior to each program, or you can access a full-text copy online at https://www.archives.gov/founding-docs/declaration-transcript

America250 Community Conversations are part of a special program series, America 250 in Ridgefield: A Deep Dive into the Declaration of Independence, offered by the Library in collaboration with Keeler Tavern Museum & History Center.

Support for America 250 in Ridgefield: A Deep Dive into the Declaration of Independence is provided by CT Humanities as part of its America 250 CT program.  Additional promotional support provided by Ridgefield Commemorates America at 250.
