Program Description

Description

Most people are familiar with their common neighborhood birds:  Robins, cardinals, mallards, and crows. But did you know that over 100 different species of birds visit Ridgefield every year?  Join RCC Commissioner Allan Welby as he introduces you to some of these secretive birds, share some of their interesting facts, and provide some tips that will give you a better chance of seeing these fascinating visitors.

Allan grew up in the Midwest, where days wandering the family farm in southwest Wisconsin instilled a deep appreciation of nature and the outdoors. He is past president of the Chicago Ornithological Society and editor of its monthly magazine, The Undertail Covert, and leads bird watching trips and workshops for a number of Connecticut and New York nature organizations.
