Program Description

Description

This exhibition, "Ukiyo-e, The Floating World, Japanese Woodblock Prints" features Japanese woodblock prints owned by Ridgefield collectors Larry George and Joel Third. After Commodore Perry opened-up trade between Japan and the West in 1854, Japanese woodblock prints began to flood the Western world and had a great influence on French and American Impressionist painters. This exhibit focuses on the mid -1800 period. On Saturday, March 16 there will be an introductory talk with Larry George from 2:00-2:45 pm in the Main Program Room followed by an opening reception from 2:45 pm - 4:00 pm.
