Phil Demise Smith Exhibition: "Follow the Brush"

Phil Demise Smith's exhibition, "Follow the Brush" applies to all of his expressions - painting, poetry, music, and real life. The brush has a mind of its own and so does the artist. This exhibition is informed by a form called Zuihitsu, which is poetically defined as a "text that can drift like a cloud," or as a "running brush" or as "follow the brush." This form of expression perceives reality as simultaneous occurrences versus one central point. Every moment is an accumulation of the past, present, and future, or as Gertrude Stein puts it, the "ongoing present." His artwork reflects this philosophy. The exhibition will run from August 20 through September 29, 2022.
