Program Description

Description

A family-friendly evening of music and poetry to celebrate Black History Month. Three renowned Connecticut Poets Laureate will share their work: Frederick-Douglass Knowles II of Hartford, Ryan Parker of Manchester (pictured), and Michael "Chief" Peterson of New Britain. Khaiim "RapOet" Kelly (aka Self Suffice)--the inaugural troubadour of the City of Hartford whose positive use of rap music has been recognized by the Obama White House, The NY Times, and NPR--will also perform. Following the performances, Ridgefield Poet Laureate Barb Jennes will host a talkback with the artists.

This program is part of the Library’s Understanding Race initiative, supported in part by the Friends of the Ridgefield Library.

This program is co-sponsored by the Aldrich Contemporary Art Museum.
