Description

Three artists featured in the Ridgefield Guild of Artists Exhibition, "Coming of Age: 70 Artists over 60" which runs from April 9 through May 8 and is curated by artist Nancy Moore will give slide-illustrated presentations about their artwork:

Photographer Miggs Burroughs (Westport)
Multimedia Artist Ellen Schiffman (Weston)
Painter Julie Leff (Weston)

Words from Nancy Moore, curator of the show:

"What happens to the passion, vision and creative drive of visual artists as they age? "Coming of Age" answers that question for 70 incredible working artists over the age of 60.

This is an invitational show that features men and women who are alive in their work, vital in their practice, and communicating through their creativity. It is no small thing to continue our creative practice for many decades, to keep discovering what we're capable of, and translating that knowledge into art.

Age is the unifying factor in this exhibition, which will celebrate a wide array of mediums and subject matter -- the art itself will not necessarily be about aging, but it will have all been created after the age of 60. What ties the show together, as with the other shows I've curated, is the words that go with the work: artists are asked to write about their experiences as artists "of a certain age." Some of us are struggling, some thriving. Some of us are doing both."

There will be an opening reception on April 9 from 4 - 7 pm at the Ridgefield Guild of Artists. Refreshments will be served. The Ridgefield Guild of Artists is located at 34 Halpin Lane in Ridgefield, CT. Hours: Wed-Sun 12 - 4 pm. For more information Call 203-438-8863 or visit rgoa.org
