Program Description

Description

Join us online for a special tribute to sisters and survivors, featuring poets whose work bears witness to the journey through breast cancer: Nicole Callihan, Valerie Duffy, Barb Jennes, and Felicia Zamora.

Nicole Callihan writes poems, stories, and essays. Her latest poetry collection, This Strange Garment (Terrapin), navigates her journey through the diagnosis and treatment of bilateral breast cancer.

Valerie Duff’s second book, Aquamarine, will be published by Lily Poetry Review Press in October. Her previous volume, To the New World, was shortlisted for the Seamus Heaney First Collection Prize.

Barb Jennes collection Blinded Birds received the 2022 International Book Award for a poetry chapbook. Another chapbook, FLOWN—an elegy for her late sister—will be published in 2024.

Felicia Zamora, author of six books of poetry, has won numerous prizes, awards, and fellowships. She teaches poetry at the University of Cincinnati and is associate poetry editor for the Colorado Review.
