Description
Part four of a four-part series about extinct animals
Once the most abundant species of bird on our planet, in less than a century all Passenger Pigeons were gone. Learn the story about a bird whose numbers blackened the skies in feathery ribbons that stretched for miles, inhaled crops, and whose sound was so deafening, one could not hear or be heard. From billions to none. How did it happen? Why are they gone? Could they ever return?
Gerri Griswold is the Director of Administration and Development at the White Memorial Conservation Center in Litchfield.
