Program Description

Description

The Ridgefield Library and Books on the Common present Lessons in Gardening and Q&A with Daryl Beyers, NYBG Gardening Instructor and author of The New Gardener's Handbook. This online program will feature brief lessons from the book in a Q&A forum, allowing participants to ask Daryl's advice on gardening issues throughout the hour.

Current events that are keeping us at home have created a spike in interest in gardening. Whether you are a new gardener looking for a source of information to help you start out, or a gardener with years of experience seeking new tips and tricks, knowing all there is to know about how plants grow, the soil they grow in, and how to care for the plants once they’re in the ground, is a continuous learning process. Luckily, Daryl Beyers—an expert from the New York Botanical Garden—has written what will be a go-to resource for decades to come.

The New Gardener’s Handbook provides the "Why-dos of the How-tos" in a comprehensive overview of the fundamentals of gardening, based on the introductory gardening class that Beyers teaches at NYBG. Copies can be purchased at Books on the Common for delivery or curbside pick up.

Please register and you will receive the Zoom invitation the day before the program. If you do not receive the link please contact Lesley at lalambton@ridgefieldlibrary.org
