Program Description

Description

Join us for a live presentation via Zoom with Toni McKeen.

In honor of May and National Nurse Day, Toni McKeen honors two special, dedicated nurses in her webinar about Florence Nightingale (1820-1910) and Dorothea Dix (1802-1887). McKeen will talk about how they influenced the nursing profession in times of illness, wars, and plagues and changed the way society looked upon nursing as a profession. Nightingale is best known as a reformer for hospital nursing during and after the Crimean War. Dix was an early 19th century activist who championed causes for both the mentally ill and indigenous populations. Toni McKee lectures widely on a range of subjects including art, history, travel and genealogy.
