Program Description

Description

Join us with author, TEDx speaker, award-winning actress, and mixed media artist Amy Oestreicher for a “My Beautiful Detour” Creativity, Hope & Resilience Discussion on Zoom. What are the "four strategies to resilience" and how can we use them right now during difficult times? Join Amy for interactive exercises, tools, and stories to help us cope with "social distancing," keeping our bodies, minds and spirits healthy, and celebrating life's everyday miracles.

“Her survival journey, unveiled in My Beautiful Detour, is more than inspiring; it is a celebration. Against all odds, Amy finds—and creates—the magical out of the impossible.” — Amanda Gronich, co-creator, The Laramie Project

Once upon a time, Amy Oestreicher had plans for college and dreams of Broadway. But all that changed one week before her senior prom. She was rushed to the hospital where her stomach exploded, literally, and after months in a coma, she learned she may never eat or drink again. Today, nearly 15 years and 27 surgeries later, Amy is grateful for that bump in the road and shares her incredible story and how we can all find the beauty in our unexpected paths.
