Program Description

Description

Today’s Connecticut forests may look like they have always been there. But these landscapes are in fact the result of many natural and human disturbances. Explore the ecological processes and rich human history that transformed our forests into what we see today. Learn from RCC Commissioner Tony Markert to “read the landscape” using some of the tools of the historian, geologist, forest ecologist, archeologist, and others.

Tony earned a graduate certificate in restoration ecology at Auburn University, where he is also finishing a master’s degree in natural resources. Previously, Tony completed the Connecticut Master Woodland Manager program. He also volunteers with the Connecticut Audubon Society, where he works on forestry projects.

This program is co-sponsored by the Ridgefield Conservation Commission and the Library.
