Program Description

Description

This exhibition, "Making Monotypes: The Painterly Print" features the most painterly method among printmaking techniques. Throughout history painters have often used monotypes for their preparatory sketches due to their  immediacy, mark quality, colorful inks, range of papers and range of values.

This Monotype group show focuses on the work of six printmakers who employ the monotype to influence their art. Because the monotype process is more spontaneous and technically less demanding than traditional printing processes, artists are able to experiment with new and creative forms on paper.
