Grades 3–5Program Description
Description
Students in grades 3-5 are invited to join us for timeless folktales told in the style of Kamishibai. Kamishibai is a form of paper theater, a traditional type of storytelling from Japan. The narrator uses a wooden theater set and boards to tell tales, which was a popular form of entertainment beginning in the 1930’s. As the scenes unfold, the narrator changes the boards on the stage. This type of theater influenced Manga and Anime storytelling styles that are popular today.
Registration is required and opens on August 25, 2024. Programs like this are made possible in part by the generosity of our donors.
