These two extraordinary men had an amazing influence on Turkey, the country they ruled in 2 different centuries. Sultan Suleiman, during the 1500s, was one of the most powerful men of his time.  He changed the face of Europe with his conquests, as well as his country with his laws, buildings, and cultural interests. Centuries later, Ataturk, its first president, brought the country into the 20th century. The effect of their powerful personalities can still be felt today.
