Program Description

Description

Have you felt that others did not listen to you or respond to you, as well as you wish?

Clinicians Susan Bauerfeld, Phd and Chris Parrott, CPsychol of Be Curious Not Furious Parenting, have designed a presentation that will focus on how to use active listening skills and empathic responding to improve your emotional connections with others. Based on the book, How to Talk So Kids Will Listen and Listen So Kids Will Talk (author Adele Faber and Elaine Mazlish), this 45-minute Zoom webinar will present practical tips and strategies that will help you stay more connected with other and help others develop the skills they need to be independent, compassionate, and responsible family members.  Following the workshop participants will be able to:

·       Understand the impact of emotion regulation on relationships and communication.

·       Use skills that promote emotion regulation.

·       Use communication skills that convey respect and empathy.

For those wishing to dive deeper into the topic, including opportunities to learn how to apply the skills to current challenges, Bauerfeld and Parrott will conduct a six-week Zoom workshop starting the week after the presentation. More information about the workshop will be available at the talk and on the Compassionate Ridgefield Facebook page.

This program is a collaboration of Ridgefield PTA's, Ridgefield Public Schools, Ridgefield Library, Project Resilience of Ridgefield, Compassionate Ridgefield, and Books on the Common.  Please register to receive the Zoom link.
