Program Description

Description

Join us as Margaret Gibson, Connecticut Poet Laureate Emerita, offers a dramatic adaptation of her most recent collection, Draw Me Without Boundaries. Ms. Gibson will be accompanied by actress Tori Richnavsky for this reading.

The poems, prose pieces, and monologues in Draw Me Without Boundaries serve as a dialogue between Lena - once a writer, now a memory-care patient - and her artist granddaughter Zoe, who has left New York City at the height of the COVID pandemic to paint in solitude at her grandmother’s now-abandoned house.

In addition to serving as a compelling investigation of the deep connections possible between people despite their physical isolation, Draw Me Without Boundaries examines the integrity and depth of inquiry required to make life and death choices against the background of a global climate crisis and an era of growing social isolation.

Margaret Gibson, long respected for her skillful poetry and for a depth of attention that is both fearless and tender, has crafted a non-traditional collection that reflects some of the profound issues of our time.

Books on the Common will have copies of Draw Me Without Boundaries available for sale and signing. Please register below.
