Description
In Codex (20 minute film), the filmmaker Micah Blook documents the fate of books damaged by the massive flooding of the Souris River in Minot, ND in 2011. This investigation into the nature and transformation of the book over time and through these damaging elements chronicles a time in human history when "we are over saturated with digital (mis)information" and offers "a creative meditation on the materiality of the book, as a unique, format of organizing knowledge."- James Romaine, professor of art history, Lander University.
Co-curators Chris Perry and Alice Walsh will introduce the film and field questions during the Q and A afterwards. This program is part of Freed Formats: the book reconsidered - a series of programs focused on book arts that features art talks, exhibitions, and workshops.
