Program Description

Description

November is National Novel Writing Month (NaNoWriMo), an international event supporting writers of all ages.  This year over 400,000 people are expected to participate from six continents. Over 95,000 students from K to 12 will be among those encouraged to write at least 50,000 words by month’s end. That’s 1,667 words a day. The writing can be any form of storytelling—fiction, non-fiction, memoir, poetry, a play, a script, etc. Thousands of libraries all over the world participate in November by inviting writers and want-to-be writers to meet in “Come Write In” programs where writers bring laptops, notebooks, pen and paper to a quiet room to work. We become cheerleaders for each other, reinforcing our determination to reach or exceed the 50,000 word goal.

On Saturday, November 17 the Ridgefield Library has extended an invitation to a “Come Write In” from 10 AM to 2 PM for anyone of any age who wants to jump into the world of creativity and explore his or her imagination.
