College Theatre Programs: Audition Preparation with Professor Ann Evans Watson, University of Michigan Musical Theatre
Are you interested in pursuing Musical Theatre or Acting at the collegiate level? Join us for a free seminar and workshop to explore:
• How to target and research universities and colleges
• The application process
• How to prepare for your audition
• Then what?
Students will have an opportunity to explore the audition process, and parents will have the opportunity to ask questions and see some student auditions first-hand. Bring yourself, sheet music (for any student who wishes to have the chance to participate in a “mock” audition), and all your questions about how to audition for college musical theatre programs.
Ann Evans Watson is an Assistant Professor of Musical Theatre at the University of Michigan, holds BFAs in theatre and music, and is a member of the AEA, MTEA, PAVA, and NATS. Some of Ann's students include Cheyenne Jackson (All Shook Up, Xanadu, 30 Rock), Megan Hilty (Wicked, 9 to 5, Smash, Tony nominee for Noises Off), Daniel Berryman (The Fantasticks, West Side Story), Solea Pfeiffer (Sunday in the Park with George at Encores, Hamilton, and the TV Show Scandal), Caitlin Kinnunnen (The Prom, Spring Awakening, Bridges of Madison County), and Eliza Palasz (Spring Awakening, Carousel, October Sky). Professor Evans Watson's online publication, www.thebeltbook.com is the premier resource dedicated to helping singers find and examine belt and belt mix literature for musical theatre.
This program is co-sponsored by the Library and ACT of Connecticut.
