Description
There will be an artist's reception for Trish Wend in the Library's Gallery Lobby on Saturday afternoon, December 4 from 2-4 pm. Refreshments will be served.
Trish Wend is an award-winning representational artist who works in oils to create luminous still life and landscape paintings. Her work has been described as rich, classic, and radiant. She often gravitates toward an old master style, employing Chiarascuro (the journey of light as it emerges from the shadows) and Alla Prima (painting wet into wet). Wend is inspired by so many things - cool, atmospheric light cascading onto a shelf the gesture of an impudent flower, or the glow transmitted by a lemon or a peach.
Trish has studied with Gregg Kreutz at the Art Students League of New York and at the Palette & Chisel Academy in Chicago, IL. Her paintings have been in local juried shows and nationally, with the Oil Painters of America, American Women Artists, National Oil and Acrylic Painters’ Society, and American Artists Professional League, where she is an elected member.
“I try to capture the mood in the scene, whether it’s drama, energy or serenity, and not just paint what I see. I want to leave you my impression of the experience and the joy that comes from looking at colors that glow.”
Of one of Trish's floral paintings, a collector says, “Trish's painting is the centerpiece of my dining room and I get complements on it all the time. It is like having fresh flowers in my home every day!” – Sarah H.
