Program Description

Description

This talk by art historian Kristen Erickson will explore the work of pioneering light artist James Turrell, focusing on his immersive installations, skyspaces, and long-term project at Roden Crater in Arizona. Turrell foregrounds light as subject and material, inviting us to explore its astronomical origins and spiritual associations.

Kristen Erickson holds degrees in French and art history from Vassar College and Oxford University. A curator and art history teacher at Greenwich Academy, home to a Turrell light installation, Kristen also teaches the series “Getting” Contemporary Art at the Aldrich Museum in Ridgefield.

This series of lectures, films, and workshops focuses on art, architecture, and design is dedicated to exploring the creative process. ARTalks is co-sponsored by the Ridgefield Library and the Ridgefield Guild of Artists.
